With our screen time now being ALL time, many people are looking for credible online gardening and horticulture resources. Here is a list of my favorites:

UMN Extension videos

Watch lots of informational videos on everything from seed starting to our 3-part series on how to pick the right place for the right plant. Tune into the University of Minnesota Extension's Yard and Garden YouTube channel!

Interested in learning more about growing fruit? Here are some of Extension's YouTube videos you might be interested in.  You can also check out our general UMN Extension videos.

MN State Horticultural Society

The Minnesota State Horticultural Society is one of the oldest horticulture societies in the U.S. Their Northern Gardening magazine is a great resource and this link provides a long list of information that is online. More benefits with membership, but you can join free, upcoming webinars (next one is April 23rd) on favorite perennials.

Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

Check out the online catalog and sign up for gardening classes at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.

Finally, for landscape and gardening professionals: the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association is a commercial organization with many member resources. You'll find webinars and other educational offerings.

On a national level, eXtension has lots of online classes and webinars.

Penn State Extension offers 50 online courses – several of them in gardening – and is waiving fees for the month of April. It also offers free recorded webinars on topics such as planting trees, water gardening, and rain gardens.

Penn State University's online newsletter PennLive has put together a list of gardens you can see on videos and through photos...well-known gardens as Longwood Gardens near Philadelphia and even the famous Keukenhof Gardens in Holland where millions of tulips are blooming.

You'll also find links to gardening podcasts culled by the American Horticultural Society and fee-based online classes--a favorite is Learning with Experts based in the UK. You can take a class tutored by some world-class gardening experts!
